Let’s talk about how wonderful the month of October is. The weather cools down, the leaves start turning brilliant shades of sunset, I get to wear boots everyday, Halloween decorations can be displayed and everything starts becoming apple and pumpkin flavored. Basically, life is perfect.
We have an annual tradition of visiting Vala’s each October for our pumpkins, but seeing how Vala’s isn’t quite worthy of the 12 hour round trip it would take us to get there, we set out in search of a new pumpkin patch in order to keep the tradition alive. Enter Minnetonka Orchards.
This is a family run apple orchard that has pumpkins available during the season. They offer hayrack rides, a petting zoo, apple donuts, fresh cider and a corn maze, though the ‘patch’ is less of a patch and more of a truckload of pumpkins dumped in a grassy field. This is what we envision Vala’s to be, before it became the ‘attraction’ that it is today. Best of all, they allowed dogs to come enjoy the fall fun at the orchard!
I’m glad to see our pumpkin patch tradition lives on.
